Folding ruler with a name – a practical name-day gift

A folding ruler printed with a name combines a practical tool with a personal gift. You can choose a ready-made version with a name or order your own custom print, so each ruler can be prepared for a specific person.

This type of gift is especially suitable for DIY enthusiasts, tradespeople, construction workers, gardeners, and anyone who appreciates practical items they can actually use.

A folding ruler with a name as a gift

A name day is a good occasion for a small personal gift. Instead of a typical keepsake, you can choose something the recipient will actually use.

A folding ruler with a printed name can be used:

• in the workshop,
• on a construction site,
• during renovation work,
• in the garden,
• for household tasks,
• in furniture making,
• for DIY projects.

A name printed on the outside of the ruler also makes it easier to identify your own tool in a workshop or on a construction site.

Folding rulers with male and female names

Versions with common male and female names are available. You can therefore choose a ruler, for example, for John, Peter, Paul, Anna, Mary or Jane.

If the required name is not available among the ready-made versions, an individual print with your own text can also be ordered.

This makes a folding ruler suitable not only as a name-day gift, but also for:

• birthdays,
• Father’s Day,
• anniversaries,
• starting a new job,
• completing vocational school,
• retirement,
• or as a gift for a colleague from the workshop.

Custom printing on a folding ruler

The print does not have to contain only a name. Depending on the selected version, it can also include your own text, a short dedication, a nickname or another marking.

Short, clearly legible texts work best on a folding ruler. A first name, surname or short dedication remains easy to read even during everyday use.

Depending on the specific version, you can also choose the font and print colour.

A practical gift should still be an accurate measuring tool

Personalisation does not change the basic function of the product. A folding ruler is still first and foremost a measuring tool.

When choosing one, it therefore makes sense to consider not only the appearance of the print, but also:

• quality of workmanship,
• readability of the scale,
• measuring accuracy,
• quality of the joints,
• durability of the surface,
• the material from which the ruler is made.

A well-made wooden folding ruler can provide many years of service in everyday use.

Folding rulers manufactured by Metrie

Metrie manufactures wooden folding rulers in its own production facility in Loštice. Production includes wood processing, manufacturing the individual sections, surface finishing, assembly, printing and quality control.

The name is therefore not printed on a randomly sourced finished product, but directly on a folding ruler manufactured by the producer itself.

This allows better control over both the quality of the ruler and the quality of the print.

Who is a folding ruler with a name suitable for?

It is most useful as a gift for someone who actually uses tools.

Typical recipients include:

• tradespeople,
• joiners,
• carpenters,
• fitters,
• construction workers,
• mechanics,
• DIY enthusiasts,
• gardeners,
• homeowners,
• or anyone who enjoys working on their own projects.

It does not have to be intended only for a professional. A folding ruler is also useful for everyday household jobs, assembling furniture, measuring rooms or carrying out small repairs.

Ready-made name or custom print?

If the required name is available as a ready-made version, this is the simplest option.

If you need:

• a less common first name,
• a surname,
• a nickname,
• a short dedication,
• a company name,
• a logo,

a custom print is the better choice.

The same product can therefore serve both as a personal gift and as a small batch of gifts for employees, customers or business partners.

Folding ruler with a name – a gift that actually gets used

The main advantage of this type of gift is its practicality. It is not just a keepsake or decoration. The ruler can be used normally at work, while the name also makes it a personal item belonging to a specific owner.

For someone who regularly measures, builds, repairs or makes things, a personalised folding ruler can be more useful than a typical decorative gift.
